Bonjour, Écouter?!All right, all right, I cheated with a English-French online dictionary. Just checking if you all having great time back in France.Passer de bons moments!!
There and back again. We have already returned to Vancouver, to our monotonous life of long sun sets and romantic plays on the beach. I can’t wait to get back to work. Ho wait, I already have! 🙁
and how was Romeo and Juliet? Some friends and I are thinking of going later this summer. 😀
We loved it! Juliette and Mercutio were particularly excellent. The adaptation is quite modern and the pace rather fast, with quite a bit of humour (not sure that was Shakespeare’s intention), whci makes the play really enjoyable. This was my 1st experience with Shakespeare. Not being a native English speaker, it was sometimes difficult to understand the dialogs but it got better toward the end. I really appreciated the more modern version as well as the not-so-British accents of the actors (I find it a lot easier to understand people in Vancouver than in London 🙂 ).Note that a friend of us did not like the play so much because apparently (according to him) it deviates too much from the original script (modernised dialogs, modern costumes – jeans, runners… – modern message…) I guess it’s up to everyone to make up their own mind.Nevertheless, if you’re in Vancouver this summer, I strongly encourage you to go watch any of these plays at Barn on the Beach. It’s really worth it but do book early as most are already sold out!
oh good, thanks for the review; I’ve been to Bard on the Beach before and have enjoyed some but not all the shows – so always like to get another opinion where possible!thanks again!:d
